Visitors need to purchase parking permits to park on the UNLV campus (in the student stalls) from 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday during the end of May through early August. Such permits are only for parking stalls marked student and are not for parking in staff, handicap, meteored, residence, reserved, etc. The permit costs are $2 per day and $5 per week. These permits may be purchased in the UNLV Public Safety Building from 7am-5pm on Monday through Friday. The UNLV Public Safety Buidling is building #61 on the UNLV Campus Map and is located on Harmon Avenue, between AmeriSuites (the official hotel for the meeting) and the Lied Library (which is adjacent to the meeting site). Visitors may purchase parking permits for both Monday and Tuesday June 3-4. The daily permits hang on the rear-view mirror and one scratches off the date of use. The Public Safety people will inform you of these directions, and these directions are also on the permit.
Weekend parking is free in the student, staff, and meteored parking stalls. There is no visitor parking in reserved stalls, residence stalls, etc. Reserved stalls include but are not limited to (see warning below) those marked for Deans, Vice-President, etc.
A good place for visitor parking is the red lot of the Thomas & Mack Center, remembering to use student parking with a parking permit on Monday and Tuesday and to park in the closer staff stalls on the weekend. Close staff parking for visitor weekend parking is also available on Harmon Avenue between AmeriSuites and the Lied Library.
Warning #1: There is close parking behind the Lied Library. Most of these parking stalls are reserved, with only a number on the stalls. People pay a high price for these personal parking stalls and no visitor parking is permitted in these. The rest of these are staff parking which is fine for the weekend.
Warning #2: There are two parking permit dispensers on campus (one adjacent to the Thomas & Mack parking lot). UNLV Public Safety has adviced against using these, and these dispensors may have been disabled due to past problems.
