A Valuable Education
After applying to a few schools out of state, I decided to stay here and attend UNLV because I received the Millennium Scholarship. The Millennium Scholarship gave me a full-ride and on top of that, UNLV also had a lot of scholarships available. Now that I have graduated from UNLV, I not only feel great knowing that I received a valuable education, but I also feel great knowing that I am not in debt.

Personal and Professional Growth
The sciences courses that I have taken at UNLV have contributed to my professional growth. In order to matriculate to medical school, all students will need to take the dreaded medical college admission test, also known as the MCAT. The sciences courses that I took helped me to prepare for this test. UNLV's education has also contributed to my personal growth. After successfully completing a challenging course, I would gain confidence and my eagerness to learn would continue to grow.

Top-Notch Professors
UNLV has surprised me the most in regards to the quality of its professors-UNLV has top-notch professors. Las Vegas is known to be a tourist destination where people from all over the world come to enjoy the lights, the festivities, and the legal gambling. However, little is known about its university, specifically the excellent professors. UNLV professors have years of experience under their belts, including professor Boyd Earl who teaches in the chemistry department or associate professors like Michael Pravica in the physics department, who graduated from Harvard and shares his extensive knowledge with many students.

A Future of Giving Back to the Community
I plan to matriculate to an osteopathic medical school. Upon graduation, I would like to be a primary care physician who practices here in the Las Vegas Valley. Nevada currently ranks 46th in the country in regards to its physician to population ratio. Because Las Vegas, specifically UNLV, has provided my siblings and I with a great education, I would like to give back to the community by trying to lower this physician to population ratio.

The College of Sciences offers research opportunities, including laboratory experience working side-by-side with professors.
